Manufaktura shopping centre, operating since 2006, has become one of the most recognizable symbols of the city of Łódź in Poland. Manufaktura includes museums, cinemas, discos and more than 250 boutiques and shops, dozens of restaurants.
Its central place is a 3 hectare market square, which serves as an open public space. It is here that cultural and entertainment events are organised.
Manufaktura is one of the most successful revitalisation projects in Central Europe. Careful reconstruction works aimed to preserve the atmosphere of the former nineteenth-century factories of Izrael Poznański. The old, red-brick buildings were completely rebuilt inside. A total of 90,000m² of historic interiors was restored. Car parks were built for 3,500 cars, 600 trees were planted, a new shopping gallery added. The total investment value was about 200 million euros.
Manufaktura was one of the first buildings in Poland to receive Breean In-Use certificates. Continuous improvements in buildings and building management made it possible to achieve higher ratings during re-certification.
