An interim BREEAM Communities certificate was 16 July obtained for 19 ha residential development SILO in Jaworzno, Poland.
Jaworzno lies between the cities of Cracow and Katowice. Planned fast train connections make the new neighbourhood attractive for young households from both cities. SILO is a previous cement factory site. The remaining silos will be reused and act as a focus point in the new community. The new dwellings will take heat from ground heat exchangers and electricity from PV panels. Inspired by Copenhagen examples the rainwater will be used in the landscaping. Rainwater will be collected on many points and then later feed the small water stream between the site and the adjacent forest.
The certificate was obtained in a Fast Track procedure. Cavatina is developer, architect as well as building contractor. The whole 14-storey building is rented by State-owned PKO BP bank. “Excellent” was achieved because of the great public transport facilities and the many nearby amenities, a high energy-efficiency, application of low water use appliances and cycle storage with changing rooms and showers.
DSV cross-docking terminal is part of DSV’s new logistics centre in Vantaa, which comprises a total of 64,000 sqm and consists of three buildings: an office of 4,000 sqm, a terminal of 10,000 sqm and a warehouse of 50,000 sqm. The buildings were completed at the beginning of 2019 by building contractor Lehto, under a design & build contract. Vantaa is home to Helsinki Airport. Developer, owner and user of the logistics centre is DSV. With offices, cross-docking terminal and warehouse in one location DSV is even better suited to provide customers with tailored logistics solutions. With all divisions in one place it is much easier for DSV to offer combined services and allow customers to benefit from the operational synergies. The BREEAM report was prepared by Adamas International, with active support from Lehto and DSV.
